BIZBOK
Page : 267

BIZBOK definition :
• A policy is a guiding principle used to set direction in an organization.
• It can be a course of action to guide and influence decisions. It should be
used as a guide to decision-making under a given set of circumstances within
the framework of objectives, goals and management philosophies as
determined by senior management.
• A policy is also defined as a course of principles of action adopted or proposed
by a government, party, business or individual..

64. Policy Map
V1.0 Oct. 2017 Competensis BIZBOK modelling with Archimate64
• I think we should simplify and consider a policy as a set of principles contributing to a
goal. Achieving the goal would require some courses of actions/initiative.
• In Archimate 3, we are missing some INFLUENCE relationship between the Principle
(POLICY) and the Course of Action (INITIATIVE) : the Principle influences the Course of
action (and not only the reverse as shown).
