  3. 3. Digestion <ul><li>First function in the digestive system </li></ul><ul><li>Breaks down food into smaller pieces so absorption can occur </li></ul><ul><li>Esophagus (food moves down to the stomach) and the Stomach (uses acids to break down food) </li></ul>
  4. 4. Absorption <ul><li>Absorbs food to break down further </li></ul><ul><li>95% happens in small intestine </li></ul><ul><li>Travels through small intestine, large intestine </li></ul><ul><li>Travels all way to the anus </li></ul><ul><li>Separates nutrients from waste </li></ul>
