  2. 2. 1966 WORLD CUP: ENGLAND <ul><li>The mascot is World Cup Willie, which is a lion, a typical symbol of United Kingdom; it is wearing “World Cup” words and Union flag jersey on shirt. </li></ul>
  3. 3. 1970 WORLD CUP: MEXICO <ul><li>The mascot is Juanito, a boy wearing Mexico’s kit and a sombrero with the words of “Mexico 70” on it. </li></ul>
  4. 4. 1974 WORLD CUP: (WEST) GERMANY <ul><li>The mascot is two boys wearing Germany kits, with the letters WM (Weltmeisterchaft, World Cup) and number 74. the names of them are Tip and Tap </li></ul>
  5. 5. 1978 WORLD CUP: ARGENTINA <ul><li>Gauchito is the name of mascot; he is a boy wearing Argentina kit. He is using hat with words “ARGENTINA ’78, neckerchief and whip are typical of gauchos. </li></ul>
  6. 6. 1982 WORLD CUP: SPAIN <ul><li>The mascot is an orange, a typical fruit of Spain, wearing the kit of the Spain national team. The name of it is Naranjito comes from naranja, Spanish word for orange, and the diminutive suffix “-ito”. </li></ul>
  7. 7. 1986 WORLD CUP: MEXICO <ul><li>The mascot is a jalapeno pepper, characteristic of Mexican cuisine, with a moustache and wearing a sombrero, Pique is the name of it, and its name coms from picante, Spanish for spicy peppers and sauces. </li></ul>

  10. 10. 1998 WORLD CUP: FRANCE <ul><li>The mascot is Footix, a rooster, one of the national symbol of France, with the “FRANCE 98” on the chest, the color of body is dominant blue, like France national team shirt and its name is a portmanteau of football and the ending –ix from the popular Asterix comic strip. Other proposed names were “Raffy”, “Houpi” and “Gallik”. </li></ul>
  11. 11. 2002 WORLD CUP: KOREA & JAPAN <ul><li>The mascot is Ato, Kaz and Nik (The Spheriks), they are orange, purple and blue futuristic computer-generated creatures. Collectively members of a team of “Atmoball” (a fictional football-like sport). Ato is the coach while Kaz and Nik are players. The three individual names were selected from shortlists by users on the internet and at McDonald’s outlets in the host countries. </li></ul>
  12. 12. 2006 WORLD CUP: GERMANY <ul><li>Goleo VI, sidekick Pille, a lion wearing a Germany shirt with the number 06 and a talking football named Pille. Goleo is a portmanteau of the words “goal” and “leo”, the latin word for lion. In Germany, Pille is a colloquial term for a football. </li></ul>
  13. 13. 2010 WORLD CUP: SOUTH AFRICA <ul><li>The mascot is Zakumi, a leopard, a common animal found in South Africa, with green hair wearing a shirt saying South Africa 2010. Zakumi’s green and gold colors represents South African national sports’ team colors. His name comes from “ZA”, the ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code for South Africa and “KUMI”, a word that means “TEN” in various African languanges. </li></ul>
