Our Ethos Our Working Definition of Ethos: the distinguishing spirit, characteristics, beliefs and/or values of New Hope South Bay in its current context. “Our ethos is the intentional and spontaneous living out of our values, beliefs, and character within the context of our spirituality, community, and mission. Our ethos provides us framework for engaging God, humanity, and ministry. Our ethos is founded on sacred principles founded in the biblical text and continues to be formed and refined by life experience. The following is a list (in no particular order) of what we consider to be significant and necessary for us to continue existence as a ministry:”

Our Ethos • Spatial Hospitality • Related Concepts: welcome, love, relational space, care, inclusion, friendship, generosity, hosting, ownership, initiation, relational priority, conversation, etc. • Holistic Growth • Related Concepts: self-awareness, humility, listening, receptivity, questioning, participation, priorities, renewal, tension, education, refreshment, release, soul formation, family, etc. • Compassionate Justice • Related Concepts: advocacy, suffering with, awareness, mobilization, kinship, humanity, etc. • Creative Collaboration • Related Concepts: open-source networking, imagination, relational benefit, commitment, integration, vocation, leadership, development, communication, innovation, risk- taking, fluidity and structure, etc.
