  1. 1. 1618469PP EF Tour to Costa Rica- Coast to Coast Spring Break 2016 (April 1st - April 9th) 9-day trip
  2. 2. WHY TRAVEL? • It changes your perspective on the world. • It changes how you view yourself. • 92% of EF travelers feel more comfortable in new and different cultural settings.
  3. 3. HOW IS TRAVELING WITH EF EDUCATIONALLY AND CULTURALLY BENEFICIAL? • The best teacher is real-life experience. • It brings the culture and language to life! • Finally the students are seeing it, eating it, breathing it, speaking it, experiencing it • The grand epiphany • They finally get it because they are surrounded by it, they are living it. • It promotes understanding, cultural respect, language learning and global citizenship. • Appetizing college applicants and employees • You will acquire skills that make you marketable: communication and global competence. • PS. I will write a letter of recommendation for every kid who comes. • Gains in confidence • Nothing builds greater confidence in a person than getting them out of their comfort zone. • Navigate new experiences and adapt to change with confidence. Secret Life of Walter Mitty
  4. 4. WHEREVER WE LEARN, EF IS THERE EF has 37,000 staff and teachers in more than 500 offices in over 50 countries

  9. 9. DAY 2: SAN JOSÉ TORTUGUERO • Travel via Braulio Carillo National Park • Travel by boat to Tortuguero • Enjoy free-time in Tortuguero
  10. 10. DAY 2: FREE-TIME IN TORTUGUERO VILLAGE• All free-time activities/groups will be accompanied by an adult chaperone (6-1 ratio) • Possible free-time activities in Tortuguero: Shop for souvenirs, local treats and snacks!Explore the village & practice your Spanish! Get some exercise hiking Tortuguero Hill!
  11. 11. DAY 3: EXPLORE TORTUGUERO • Enjoy a boat tour through the Tortuguero canals. • Visit Tortuguero National Park—the most important Caribbean breeding ground for the green sea turtles, who have lived here for more than 100 million years. • Explore the twists and turns of the Tortuguero Canals on a boat excursion. • High rainfall and convergence of freshwater and the Caribbean sea make the beaches, canals, lagoons and wetlands of Tortuguero areas of exceptional biodiversity. • See if you can spot a howler monkey, toucan or maybe even a caiman.
  12. 12. DAY 4: SARAPIQUÍ REGION • Travel to Sarapiquí region • Zip-line canopy tour! • Zip lines unveil one of the planet’s most fascinating ecological systems from a unique perspective—from the tops of the trees! • With local expert guides at your side to instruct you on safety protocol, you can decide which view you prefer—from below the trees or from above. • Note: This optional reaches heights of 90 feet and is not recommended for anyone with a fear of heights. Travelers must weigh below 200 lbs. to participate. • This excursion is already included in the pricing of this tour.
  13. 13. DAY 5: ARENAL REGION • Travel to the Arenal region and get ready for an adventure to remember. • Behold the perfect conical shape that emerges from the green hills of Alajuela: the fascinating Arenal Volcano. • Overlooking the San Carlos plain and the Pacific lowlands, this mile- high volcano has been active for the past 7,000 years. • You’ll see the volcano from a different angle on your kayaking excursion. • Not only does the volcano serve as a watershed for the lake, but it also provides thermal energy for the nearby hot springs.
  14. 14. DAY 5: ARENAL REGION • Whitewater rafting! • Safety first- experience river guides will instruct us, provide us with protective gear and keep us safe during this adventure!
  15. 15. DAY 6: ARENAL REGION Kayaking trip along Lake Arenal! Hike to La Fortuna Waterfall
  16. 16. DAY 7: GUANACASTE • Continue on to Guanacaste, where you’ll feel the sand between your toes as you become immersed in this natural wonderland. • The emerald Pacific glimmers alongside miles of beaches—an ideal setting for divers, surfers and boaters. • Take in the craggy bluffs cloaked in forests stretching tall above you and encounter local cattle ranchers driving oxen carts farther inland. • Learn about Guanacaste’s remarkable array of plant and animal life when you explore Rincón de la Vieja National Park. • Located high in the mountains, this rain/cloud forest boasts numerous geothermal hot springs. • Visit Rincón de la Vieja National Park
  17. 17. DAY 8: GUANACASTE • Enjoy a free-day on the beach. • The white sanded beaches here are gorgeous. • This is a nice relaxing day to end our adventure-filled trip. • Also, feel free to go on your own excursions through local companies. • For example, horseback riding tours of the beach and park come highly rated in this area and are very popular. • Also, some people will rent different beach equipment to go surfing. • These activities are not included in our tour package, but are something you could plan for if desired.
  18. 18. DAY 9: DEPART FOR HOME
  19. 19. WHY YOU CAN TRUST ME TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR KID: I care about your kid: • With my experience as an EFY, summer youth camp, counselor and as a high school teacher I am savvy with teens and know how to talk to them. • It is my goal to make these trips enjoyable, safe and meaningful for everyone who comes. I have experience: • I speak fluent Spanish and have experience traveling abroad. We have rules: • ABSOLUTELY NO DRINKING! • We have a curfew every night and lights out. Each chaperone will be in charge of a set of kids. • Wherever the kids go, a chaperone goes as well. This includes free-time. Our trip will be safe: • EF only takes us to safe places and provides us with a local tour guide who takes every precaution to keep us safe and to help us out. TRAVELER EXPECTATIONS: • Students are expected to be on their best behavior while on this tour and will be held to a set behavior standard. • If a traveler violates my rules, I have the right to send them home from tour at the parents’ expense. • I only invite my best behaved students on these tours to ensure that we all have a good time, including me!
