  2. 2. YOU'LL NEED TO KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SPS MEMBERSHIP AND SRP REGISTRATION
  3. 3. SINGAPORE PSYCHOLOGY SOCIETY (SPS) MEMBERSHIP SINGAPORE REGISTER OF PSYCHOLOGISTS (SRP)
  4. 4. SINGAPORE PSYCHOLOGY SOCIETY (SPS) MEMBERSHIP 4 categories of membership: Full Associate Affiliate Student
  5. 5. SINGAPORE PSYCHOLOGY SOCIETY (SPS) MEMBERSHIP The minimum requirement for student membership is simply to be enrolled into either a full-time or part-time psychology course at a tertiary institution.
  6. 6. SINGAPORE PSYCHOLOGY SOCIETY (SPS) MEMBERSHIP Full membership requires that one have a Master, Doctoral, or Postgraduate professional* qualification in a specialised field in psychology that includes not less than 400 hours of supervised practical training.
  7. 7. SINGAPORE REGISTER OF PSYCHOLOGISTS (SRP) The minimal degree required is a Masters degree in applied psychology which includes 1000 hours of practical supervised training. There are no exceptions to this rule and a counseling degree does not qualify.
  8. 8. SINGAPORE REGISTER OF PSYCHOLOGISTS (SRP) Getting registered means being listed on the Directory of Registered Psychologists. Registration is voluntary, but when anyone can call themselves a psychologist due to a lack of regulation, registration is a mark of having met professional standards.
  9. 9. SPS MEMBERSHIP ALONE WILL NOT GET YOU ONTO THE SINGAPORE REGISTER OF PSYCHOLOGISTS
  10. 10. SOME UNIVERSITY REPRESENTATIVES HEAVILY EMPHASIZE AND PROMOTE SPS MEMBERSHIP
  11. 11. BUT AS MENTIONED ABOVE, ANY STUDENT ENROLLED INTO A PSYCHOLOGY COURSE CAN BE A MEMBER
  12. 12. WHAT YOU REALLY WANT IS TO BE LISTED ON THE SINGAPORE REGISTER OF PSYCHOLOGISTS
