  1. 1. Welcome
  2. 2. Why Home Base? <ul><li>We meet every Monday and Friday for 20 minutes at the end of the day; and on Wednesdays during assembly times. </li></ul><ul><li>Time is set aside to allow students to establish and maintain a sense of small-group community and to strengthen student-adult relationships. </li></ul><ul><li>Home Base provides students with the opportunity to develop deeper understanding of life and their role within it. </li></ul><ul><li>It is a time of friendship, support and learning. </li></ul>

Tutorials <ul><li>Tutorials are every Tuesday and Thursday for 20 minutes at the end of the day. </li></ul><ul><li>Tutorial time is available for students to work with the teacher, either individually or in small groups; to reinforce class work. </li></ul><ul><li>A teacher may request a student to attend a tutorial to do make-up assignments, tests or quizzes. </li></ul>

Overnight Trip CALIRAYA – September 22-24 <ul><li>To provide physical, intellectual, emotional and social challenges through a variety of activities. </li></ul><ul><li>To provide a unique opportunity and setting for students and teachers to learn about one another and build a sense of community. </li></ul><ul><li>To provide an opportunity for students to interact and develop a relationship with the environment, traditions, and culture of the Philippines. </li></ul>

Classroom Without Walls (CWW) Feb 14-18 <ul><li>The program engages students in activities outside the school and is closely linked to the academic program and service learning. </li></ul><ul><li>Grade 8 sign up for various sites: Overnight or Day trips </li></ul><ul><li>There will be a parent information evening closer to the time . </li></ul>

  7. 7. Service Learning Grade 8 complete a course called “Changing Our World” in which students reflect on the world around them and learn how the world functions. There are various organizations that we work with on our CWW trips, where our students have a chance to give back to the community. Students can also sign up for Saturday Morning service at Chosen Children’s Village, GK777, PAWS throughout the year.
