Some Facts about Diabetes and the Hope Foundation for Kids with Diabetes <ul><li>In Mexico, there are thousands of children with diabetes. </li></ul><ul><li>There are now 150 children registered in our foundation. </li></ul><ul><li>Each year we have 2 camps for recently diagnosed children and their parents where they all receive training through classes and workshops. </li></ul><ul><li>We offer a school for parents and children two times each week. </li></ul><ul><li>We have a yearly Christmas Posada for the kids and their families. </li></ul><ul><li>We also have a special party on “kids day” each year. </li></ul><ul><li>We offer classes in hospitals and also in local communities where there is a high index of children with diabetes. </li></ul><ul><li>Diabetes is expected to increase by 300% worldwide in the next 15 years. </li></ul><ul><li>The monthly cost of treating a child with diabetes in Mexico is between $3000 and $5000 pesos ($230-$385 USD) for each child. </li></ul><ul><li>Needed are glucometers, test strips, insulin, tourniquets, syringes and regular medical testing </li></ul>
