Salary surveys and other more specialized data may occasionally be available from private research firms or professional associations, however such information may only be available for a fee. 1.) The United States Department of Labor http://www.dol.gov This is the main page of the United States Department of Labor. This site gives information about the United States Department of Labor (DOL) in general and provides links to individual agencies of the DOL such as the:  Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) 2.) The United State’s Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics http://www.bls.gov This is the site of the United States Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, where you can find numerous helpful links about the following:  Information about occupations in general. This includes a direct link to the online version of the Occupational Outlook Handbook at http://www.bls.gov/oco/home.htm Go to the online version of the Occupational Outlook Handbook and find the entry or entries for your chosen career field. Print those entries if you wish to use them in your second Portfolio Essay.  Wages, Earnings and Benefits. This includes wages by area and occupation, state and city/metropolitan statistical area wages, etc. http://www.bls.gov/bls/blswage.htm After looking up local salary data for your chosen carreer, click on the highlighted link that lists your chosen job title. You will then see regional demands and pay and other more detailed information. 3.) This site gives information about the New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL) in general and provides links to separate areas of the New York State Department of labor such as:  Workforce Services  Labor Statistics 4.)
