    1. 1. Technology Updates The good, the bad, and the…wait, it’s all good.
    2. 2. Who? Where? Type goo.gl/O2hnn9 into your address bar Capital O Fill out the form, then click Submit

    4. 4. What is this Google thing & why are we doing it?
    5. 5. Why I Love Google Chrome 1) It’s FAST 2) I don’t have to remember passwords 3) I can import allof my oldbookmarks from Internet Explorer 4) I can teach Chrome which pages to open every time I double-click the icon 5) Search straight from the address bar 6) Google Drive is the perfect tool for CONNECTing & collaborating!

Setting up Chrome • Open Chrome – click on the 3 bars at the right of the address bar • Click on Settings • Sign out of Google Chrome (if you’re signed in) • Login with your NEW Google account YOUR NEW account is: first.last@harbins.org learn2013 EXAMPLE: Chris.Rogers@harbins.org learn2013

Setting up Chrome(cont.) • If it asks you to merge accounts, click “Yes” – this will allow you to keep all of your saved passwords, bookmarks, etc. – if you want them separate, click “New User” • After setting it up, close out of Chrome & reopen • Choose 2-5 webpages you want to open EVERY TIME you log in to Google Chrome – the first two should be Portal Login & Google Drive, the others are your choice – here’s an example • Go to Settings again, and choose “Open a Specific Set of Pages, then “Set Pages”
    8. 8. Setting up Chrome(cont.) • Choose “Use Current Pages” then OK. You are done! Close out Google Chrome and reopen to see if it works. If it doesn’t, log in with your new harbins.org account, check Settings to be sure they’re the same, then repeat.
    9. 9. Google Drive Open up Google Drive, and click on “Items Shared With Me” – here are the planning resources I shared, plus your New Lab Schedule sign-up sheet.

    11. 11. What’s Staying the Same? Gradebook/Attendance Attendance on 1st Day – Don’t forget NVS until you see them! Gradebook won’t be active until the 2nd week of school – GL Staff Development on Thursday, August 15th to set up for everyone.

    19. 19. D2L Updates New skin (front page) for Elementary Open up your Green E-Class icon, select this year’s class (if you are a HR teacher) Click on Course Management – Edit Course Select Homepages Select Eclass Elementary Homepage Revision July 2013 – click Apply

    21. 21. D2L Updates Importing Now, you can find “Edit Course” in the Content menu at the top Select Edit Course, then Import-Export- Copy Components
    22. 22. D2L Updates Importing (cont.) Click “Search for Offering” Now choose the course you want to Import From – it might be last year’s course, your Summer Sandbox, or a grade-level course Go ahead and Copy All Components – you can always delete later
