  • 28. Frequently Asked Questions How are speakers selected? Speakers are selected on the topic relevance, originality and interest of their presentations, as well as on their proven ability and prominence in the industry. Does exhibiting/sponsoring the events impact my chances of getting a speaking slot? The agenda and speaking slots are developed independently of Congress sponsorship and exhibition: you cannot pay for speaking slots. Please contact our sales team on sales@mobileasiacongress.com or sales@mobileworldcongress.com should you wish to explore other commercial opportunities to enhance your organisation’s standing at our events. Can I submit a panel of speakers? Yes, but please check with them before submitting to ensure that they are available How many submissions should I make? There is no limit on the number of submissions you can make but it is important to only submit on areas of key importance to your business (as a guideline 1-5) How long are speaking slots? As a guideline, presentations are 20 minutes and panel discussions are 45
  • 29. Frequently Asked Questions What if my presentation includes commercially sensitive material? The GSMA will sign non-disclosure agreements to ensure the inclusion of any commercially sensitive material that could strengthen a proposal. What are the costs involved in speaking? There is no charge to speak at our events. In fact every speaker is given a pass that enables them to attend the entire program, as well as access the exclusive speaker lounge.Does the GSMA pay for my flight and/or accommodation?Due to the unique way in which the GSMA is funded, we do not offer speakers financial support for flights and accommodation. When will I find out if my application is accepted? We make every effort to contact our successful applicants within two months of the close of the call for papers. If a speaker becomes unavailable, then a first reserve will be invited to assume the available speaker slot.  Should you be planning on attending the event but are awaiting on the results of your proposal, we recommend you proceed with your registration for the event, and we will refund the cost of the purchased pass should you subsequently be selected to speak at the event.  Does speaking at the Mobile Asia Congress preclude me from speaking at the Mobile World Congress? We consider each application independently for each event.

Editor's Notes

  1. This slide shows some of our areas of responsibility including research, briefings, agenda development and the delivery of the agenda onsite. All of these processes are ongoing through the year
  2. A very large part of the content managers responsibilities are the research behind the agendas. We maintain an enormous rolling list of over 150 topics for the two events which we then whittle down to form the two agendas. This research is ongoing as we look to identify new angles on familiar topics, engage with industry leaders and consider speakers. During this time we refer closely to the submissions from our call for papers process and also internal experts here at the GSMA
