When dealing with the demonic we need to avoid extremes. C.S Lewis wrote a helpful comment in his classic book ‘The Screwtape letters’. “There are two equal and opposite errors into which our race can fall about the devils. One is to disbelieve in their existence. The other is to believe, and to feel an excessive and unhealthy interest in them”.

The names of Satan in scripture: Satan is called the wicked one (Mtt. 13:19,38, the evil one, (1st John 5:19), the deceiver (Revelations 12:9), a murderer (John 8:44) the destroyer, (Revelation 9:11). He is also called ‘one who masquerades as an angel of light’ (2nd Corinthians 11).
