  2. 2. Lighting <ul><li>Drama studios, hall and theatres have specialised lighting. </li></ul><ul><li>There are two main reasons </li></ul><ul><li>To focus our vision on a particular part or all of the acting area </li></ul><ul><li>To create atmosphere </li></ul>
  3. 4. Types of Lights <ul><li>There are three main types of lights </li></ul><ul><li>Profile spotlights </li></ul><ul><li>Fresnel spotlights </li></ul><ul><li>Floods </li></ul>
  4. 5. Profiles Creates a hard edge to the circle of light

  7. 8. Gobos Gobos are metal cut outs which can be placed in front of a spotlight. They are used to create effects. It is a cheap and effective way of creating a set

  9. 10. fresnel Lights a particular area but the edge is soft, not hard
  10. 12. Barn doors Light from fresnels can be directed by using BARN DOORS. They are four metal hinged flaps that slot in the front of the fresnel. They can be opened or closed to help control or shape the light. They can focus in on one particular areas

  16. 18. Gels - Cinemoid Creating atmosphere through the use of colour is done using gels/cinemoid. There is a bracket at the front of a light which a gel holder can be inserted.
