  • Also look at buildings – windows in doors – classrooms, offices, etc.
  • One of the saddest stories is speaking with an adult after an abuse case surfaces – when an adult see another adult interact inappropriately with a child, but didn’t report

    1. 1. Safe environment training (STAND) is required of: <ul><li>Clergy </li></ul><ul><li>Employees </li></ul><ul><li>Volunteers who have substantial contact with minors </li></ul>
    2. 2. Prevention Model Appropriate Behavior <ul><li>Observe boundaries regarding safety issues </li></ul><ul><li>Never participate in the use of inappropriate names or belittling comments </li></ul><ul><li>Remember adults are not peers, they are adult friends </li></ul>
    3. 3. Prevention Model Appropriate Behavior <ul><li>Use appropriate language </li></ul><ul><li>Respect a young person’s privacy </li></ul><ul><li>No illegal activities – no sharing cigarettes, alcohol or pornography </li></ul>

    9. 9. Response and Reporting <ul><li>Report to civil authorities </li></ul><ul><li>Comply with the obligations of civil law - reporting the incident and cooperating with the investigation </li></ul><ul><li>Contact OCYP/HR before terminating </li></ul>
