How To Do A great Warm Up

  1. 1. By: Catherine Maples How To Do A Great Irish Dance Warm Up
  2. 2. Introduction

     Have you ever pulled a muscle? Have you ever pulled a muscle playing a sport? If you have it hurts right? Yes, it does it hurts bad! The reason why you pulled the muscle is probably because you weren't warmed up. Well here is a perfect warm up!

  3. 3. Materials Needed

*  Clear space

*  Shorts

*  Shirt

*  Socks

* Irish Dance Soft Shoes (optional)

  4. 4. Step One

     First you need to do a good warm up! Jogging around the room for 5 minutes should be good. To make it harder do knee highs or butt kicks while jogging. Remember to keep a steady pace.

  5. 5. Step Two

     Next you need to do a couple dynamic warm ups. The first one should be pretty easy but still stretching. A good one is lunge walks! How you do them is you take a big step and then bend both legs. Then repeat with other leg.

  6. 6. Step Three

     Now you need to do a couple harder dynamic stretches! It should start to really stretch! A good one is high knee walk! How to do it is you put your knee up and then you put your hands on your knee and pull up as high as you can! Then take a step and do the same thing with the other leg!

  7. 7. Step Four

     After that you need to do a couple hard dynamic stretches! A good stretch is the inch worm! Another is high knees and butt kicks!For your inch worm you start in the push up position and you slowly walk up with your knees straight! Then you slowly walk down with your hands, your knees are still straight! To do high knees and butt kicks you jog and put your knees up or kick your butt!

  8. 8. Step Five and Step Six

     Next you have to do warm ups . Start with ankle rotations. Go one way then the other with both feet. Then do toe raises. For 2 counts 3 times then 4 counts 2 times. Then put your right foot in front and do 2 counts 3 times and 4 counts 2 times . Do the same for left. In between pause before going back up for 2 counts.

  9. 9. Step Seven and Eight

     Now you have to do springs in a V! Like your toe raises but you are bouncing. You do these in 3 sets. First you do them small then you do big then HUGE ! You do each size about 16 times! You do these continuesly. Next you have to do springs with your legs crossed! First right crossed for 16. Then you cross left over and do that 16 times.

  10. 10. Step Nine

     After that you do what we call corner drills! You do jumps,high lows, chop kicks, double knees. To do double knees you step with one leg then swig the other leg up and go off the floor and your knee does a double. Then you repeat with other leg. To do jumps you do a change, which is when you lift one leg a foot off the ground and your other leg bends and kicks your butt. Then you take 2 little steps then step with your front foot and bring your back foot to the front as high as your waist and at the same time your other leg bends and kicks your butt.

  11. 11. Conclusion

      That is how many people who do irish dance do their warm up! Don't forget to stretch and do warm ups to keep you SAFE !

         Thank You for reading!!!!!!
