  6. 6. We don’t have time to cover all 200 today… Instead we will look at small changes we can make that will have a big impact
  7. 7. Let’s eat away at 7 factors
  8. 8. #1: Image Optimization
  9. 9. Are your image file names descriptive?
  10. 10. Do They Have ALT Tags?
  11. 11. #1: Image Optimization • Images should use descriptive file names separated by hyphens. • All images should have descriptive alt tags. (E.g. <img src=http://cnn.com/burrito.jpg><alt =“This is a picture of a burrito”>
  12. 12. #2: Optimized URL Structure
  13. 13. BAD URL Structures Use: • Underscores • Are very long • Are not descriptive • Have extra unneeded characters such as product124553333.html
  14. 14. Good URL Structures • Should use hyphens to separate • Should be descriptive • Should be as short as possible • Should not have over 5 hyphens if possible
  15. 15. #3: One Topic Per Page
  16. 16. Don’t Confuse Google
  17. 17. Another bad example Main Website Topic 1 Topic 2 Topic 3 Lawyer Attorney Esquire
  18. 18. Guidelines • Each page should be dedicated to one keyword or topic. • This should be unique content of at least 400 words. • Having additional topics on one page can cause keyword cannibalization.
  19. 19. #4: Optimized Title Tags
  20. 20. Using the Yoast Plugin
  21. 21. #4: Optimized Title Tags Optimal Format Primary Keyword – Secondary Keyword | Brand Name Code: <head> <title>Example Title</title> </head>
  22. 22. More Info Google Typically only displays the first 50-60 characters, so keep them short! They should not be keyword stuffed like: Denver Attorney Lawyer Law Firm Colorado
  23. 23. #5: Review Snippets You can get these on organic results
  24. 24. What if I told you these increased click through rate?
  25. 25. All you have to do is add some HTML to your website Get the code you need to add to your website here: http://schema-creator.org/review.php **Note this will not work on your home page
  26. 26. All you have to do is add some HTML to your website Get the code you need to add to your website here: http://schema-creator.org/review.php **Note this will not work on your home page
  27. 27. #6: Click to Call If you have a mobile website
  28. 28. Click to Call Does Not Help Google Rankings But Who Cares!? Your conversion rate will rise and you will get more phone calls and conversions.
  29. 29. How to Add Click To Call Enter this code around your phone number <a href=“tel:+15555555555”>Click to Call</a>
  30. 30. #7: Breadcrumb Links This is not what I mean…
  31. 31. I mean these navigation links
  32. 32. Breadcrumbs don’t just help SEO…. • They provide a great user experience • They pass link juice • They establish the proper content hierarchy
  33. 33. Some Final Thoughts You should implement all of these items  Image optimization is key  Optimized URL Structure  One piece of content tailored per page  Heading tags help show the search engines what the page is about  Click to call can increase calls and undo bounces  Breadcrumbs can pass link juice and provide a great user experience.
