  • Customer Service/Support: In a B2C environment your customers sometimes need to get in touch with your company. In the past this communication was restricted to letters, emails or telephone. Now there’s also Twitter and Facebook plus many others and more to follow. There is no doubt people will try to get in touch through online methods. It’s best to be prepared, develop a clear strategy, set up guidelines and make sure you have a good social media management tool or app to deal with this challenge.PR: Follow up on your online reputation. What are people saying about you on social media, on blogs and forums, in comments on news articles about your company?Sales: You can often find new sales leads online. People who are looking for a service or products like the one your company offers, people who are displeased with your competitors’ service or products(i.e. Linked In) for the B2B side, as well as for the B2C - consumers/shoppers (i.e. Facebook and/or Pinterest).Purchasing: Many larger companies even have their Purchasing Departments involved in Social Media, encouraging their buyers to research new products or brands before committing to list. Marketing and Communication: Marketing campaigns are no longer restricted to traditional media. Sometimes there’s a combination, sometimes campaigns are purely focused on social media. The big advantage with social media is that you can easily track people’s opinions about the campaign, as well as the results it has on your sales and reputation. All you have to do: monitor the campaign!  Apart from following up on campaigns, marketers can also do their research work on social media. Using either a monitoring tool for market research or even simply conducting a Poll for feedback. As you can see, there are so many different departments that benefit from the use of social media. No doubt there are many more business goals you can fulfill, besides the ones already listed.  Using social media is part of everyone's future.  It is just something you have to get used to and begin to engage with at some point.  Don’t think of it as extra work. Think of it as another way of doing business and engaging with your customers.

In fact, Instagramactively discourages it. This doesn’t mean you can’t show pictures of your product and your product in use. • Networking with people/ supporters of your brand to get them to help spread the word – Word of Mouth Advertising….
  • People are going to talk about your brand, whether you are actively involved in those conversations or not. So why not take some control over how you are perceived and engage through Social Media.CONVERSATIONAL. Sustainability branding is more effective as two-way conversation rather than one-way communication. Honesty and transparency will go a long way with consumers.Disclosing what you're doing well and what you could be doing better will instill trust.. This kind of disclosure creates trust, and trust breeds loyalty. Inviting consumers to participate in a conversation about your process will further strengthen the brand/consumer relationship.

    8. 8. INSTAGRAM – ONE TO WATCH 5 ways to grow your presence on Instagram: #1: Discover how you are pictured as a company - Part of joining any community is listening first. #2: Create and promote your account –Instagram doesn’t have brand pages yet, but they’re not prohibited. #3: Use Instagram as your default photo app - Since sharing Instagram photos on Facebook and Twitter is so easy, use Instagram as your camera app when you take pictures for your brand. #4: Aggregate your content - Instagram has an API, so any programmer can easily pull Instagram pictures into other assets to aggregate them and display them any number of ways. #5: Host events or promotions for your community – Social Promotions can be great ways to grow communities or increase brand awareness. Instagram is no exception. The Tiffany True Love Pictures contest is just one example of a brand running a promotion on this platform. Running a promotion can be as simple as asking your fans to use a specific hashtag to have their photos reviewed.Interesting Facts: Instagram was the smartphone photo sharing tool of choice long before its acquisition by Facebook and the release of an Android version. And it’s growing faster than ever. Instagram is proving particularly popular among consumer brands, not least because it’s enjoyed the greatest growth rate interms of users. The iPhone-only app garnered 100,000 registrations in its first week; by week 10, 1 million users had signed up for the service.
