  • We’ll take a look at the list of requirements from our client and determine which modules to use. (Review Handout) I will also upload a new one to the site.
  • First we will take a look at Drupal’s core modules. Then we’ll also go to drupal.org and browse the thousands of contributed modules available, showing how to find what you need and download the code. Sometimes searching for modules on Google is easier than digging through the module list.
  • We will talk about all the different modules that we’ve outlined in the site spec. (Review Handout)
  • Learning which modules are reliable does take time and a bit of intimate knowledge with the Drupal community. We’ll walk through some quick steps to help determine how useful a module may be by checking usage statistics and finding information about the maintainers. Many new members to Drupal contribute great code, and having a sandbox site to test modules is always a great thing to verify that it will work as you need it to work.
  • We’ll walk through the process of installing and configuring modules on a pre-configured Drupal installation. Wget vs. drush. Then enable them and the themes.
  • We’ll start to build out our content templates or “nodes”.
  • We’ll move into building dynamic lists of nodes with the Views module.
  • We will walk through some basic permissions for content editors on our site as well as locking down the user login page.
  • You can begin to add content into the site. We’ll demonstrate the Devel module and adding in FPO content.
