This document discusses using songs in primary English classes and related online resources. It provides three main reasons for using songs: affective reasons to make learning fun and enjoyable, linguistic reasons as songs help teach rhythm, stress and intonation, and cultural reasons as songs expose students to English cultures. It then outlines a three stage process for teaching songs: pre-listening, listening and post-listening activities. Several examples are provided and considerations for song selection, assessment and online resources to find songs are discussed.
