Final evalutaion.

  1. 1. My front cover includes:• The date of issue, price, barcode, and a medium-close up image thatcovers the whole page and cover lines that will attract the readers eye.• My contents page includes bold text and page numbers.•A typical contents page would include the title of the magazine, asentence or two about a topic inside the magazine, then you would see thepage number alongside this.• Images are also included to attract the audiences attention.•My DPS has an image that covers both pages and includes text which iseasy to read. I have pushed the boundaries of my double page spread bymaking the text in the colour white instead of black.
  2. 2.  My front cover makes the idea of classical music an exciting genre to be interested in. The front cover gives the impression of teenagers being very active, fun and talented. My contents page tells us, how diverse classical music can be. It talks about charity events, famous musicians who have passed away, what features in the movie charts and the main convention; an editor letter. I wanted to make the editors letter really, set a foundation for the magazine in general. I also wanted the readers to feel relaxed and eager to carry on reading. In order to do this, I knew that the way I expressed my point in the letter, had to stand out. Overall, I do think that I have followed the conventions of an ideal music magazine, however, I have tried to create something new, because it is a ‘Teenage Classical magazine’ I feel I have pushed the boundaries, as the magazine opens the market for teenagers.
  3. 3.  Teenagers (young and older) have been represented in my magazine. The images I have used, convey a message of being confident and proud of themselves throughout their life. The ratio of text used in my DPS is 50:50. The language used is slightly formal and has a serious tone associated with it, but is very easy to understand at the same time. The presentation is not stereotypical. The magazine is positive, the magazine tells us something about power; power can be used as a corrector and confidence. Confidence helps you deviate from making that error and should be a privilege for one to have. The magazine tells us something about -age, gender, class- students, ethnicity has a strong hold on my magazine, and has helped send out the message, that classical music is approachable to all types of people. In addition to this I have gone against stereotypes and tried to show a diverse range of people interested in classical music.
  4. 4. A company would want to distribute my magazine because:•It contains stories that link unusual but surprising topics together such as (bare hands anddrums-a part of a body with a musical instrument) .•It sounds unique and fun, to read and imagine.•BBCMusic Magazine, IPC Media, Bauer Company ,Classical FM Magazine publishmagazines like mine.•These institutes, would probably publish my magazine, because it is unique and showsanother side to teenagers and therefore opens the market for them. The magazine willhopefully tell them that, teenagers are not entirely ‘loud children’ or ‘extremely studious’ butstudents who are willing to discover their inner strengths and be proud of them.
  5. 5.  The audience would be from ages:14 - 19, Gender- female (mostly students) Audience profile- would be students who are interested in music preferably classical and enjoys reading stories that are motivational or just different to what they normally read. They would need to fit into the C1/C2 section. The students should strive to boost their self -esteem and feel like The Succeeder that they should aim to be eventually with time.
  6. 6.  I included an editors letter in my content page to make the magazine very attractive. I included a pun to make readers join in a musical competition. DPS- I mentioned at the end, that my guest speaker will be performing live so if readers want to get hold of tickets they should go to our website. I made my title this way to sound interesting and look different. I thought this will inspire to students to realise who they were; the New Generation. They should realise the new things that come along with the struggle, in their life. Hopefully, students will be able to recreate a meaning of Generation once they have read my magazine. My magazines mode of address is not too conservative but sounds mature. Someone would want to buy my magazine because it sends out a positive message for students. I collected audience feedback during my project to make sure I knew what my target audience would like (see next slide)
  7. 7.  Colours other than pink, blue, orange etc. to be included in the writing. A potential mixture of rock, hip-hop and classical music. They dont mind the magazine providing them with the latest bands CD. A range of interviews, new images and recent affairs. The magazine to be published monthly.
  8. 8. • In doing my magazine:• I have used Publisher,• InDesign,
  9. 9.  Photoshop Word, a Digital camera, Polls
  10. 10.  Blogger I had never used Blogger, which was an internet site, that allowed me to post my pictures, and text easily onto the internet. It gave me the chance to communicate with other students and read their comments, made about my project. I got the chance to set up polls and questionnaires to see what other ‘Bloggers’ preferred (such as which title would suit me magazine). When I started my project , it was slightly difficult to get used to as, you had to import your pictures in a specific way, I would have to press a certain button, you weren’t allowed to copy and paste the image, like publisher for example. I have found Blogger very useful, in transferring my pictures, text and viewpoints easily through the internet and onto my account.
  11. 11. • I have learnt that InDesign is very useful for collaborating pictures together. Ithas many effects that can be used on the picture to look attractive.•I also noticed that Photoshop is good for preparing your front cover. Whenyou open InDesign it is very different to opening PowerPoint. So it takes timegetting used to.
  12. 12. Looking back at my preliminary task,• I feel I have learnt a great deal of information.• I have realised that making a magazine is something that is not accomplished over a period of 2 weeks. It takes months to complete, however once it is complete you feel extremely pleased that you did the project.• I have also become more familiar with the magazine industry and now some magazines who produce similar stories to mine.• I have learnt some new practical skills; taking better photos, and now have a greater use of technology.• Above all, I have experienced the making of a magazine, for my coursework, which is one thing that I will never forget.
