  2. 2. What is the QUESTT Residency Program? The QUESTT Residency Program is an alternative teacher preparation program that serves current Fulton County School teachers who recently transitioned into the education profession from other fields. <ul><li>Two Year Program </li></ul><ul><li>Mandatory Introductory Teaching Course </li></ul><ul><li>Program Coursework relevant to Current Issues in Education </li></ul><ul><li>Field Observations Throughout Fulton County School District </li></ul><ul><li>Clinical Support </li></ul><ul><li>Job-embedded Learning Experiences </li></ul><ul><li>Teaching Competencies clustered around four domains of teaching responsibilities </li></ul>

QUESTT Program Goals <ul><li>Ensure that the candidates who participate in the program are appropriately certified and highly qualified for positions to which they teach. </li></ul><ul><li>Retain highly qualified, experienced teachers through an effective induction process and peer support system. </li></ul><ul><li>Assure that students enrolled in Fulton County Schools are provided with committed teachers focused on improving their learning and achievement </li></ul>
  4. 4. Candidate Support Team <ul><li>Each Candidate is assigned a Candidate Support Team (CST). The CST includes: </li></ul><ul><li>School-based Mentor Teacher </li></ul><ul><li>School Administrator </li></ul><ul><li>Professional Learning Facilitator </li></ul><ul><li>Content Specialist (if applicable) </li></ul><ul><li>The CST supports the Candidate by conducting observations with pre/post conferences, providing feedback on the Candidate’s progress throughout the program, and participating in a total of 3 CST meetings. </li></ul>

What is my Role on the Candidate Support Team (CST) during Program Year I? <ul><li>School Based Mentor Teacher </li></ul><ul><li>Conducts 3 observations and pre/post conferences with Candidate </li></ul><ul><li>Commit a minimum of 50 hours of working with Candidate </li></ul><ul><li>(Mentorship activities may include observations, instructional planning </li></ul><ul><li>support, feedback, and guided reflection) </li></ul><ul><li>School Administrator </li></ul><ul><li>Conducts 1 observation and pre/post conferences with Candidate </li></ul><ul><li>Content Specialist </li></ul><ul><li>Provide content support (i.e., coaching, observations) as needed </li></ul>

What’s Next for Mentor Teachers <ul><li>Take a few moments to talk to your QUESTT Candidate or Professional Learning Facilitator </li></ul><ul><li>Become acquainted with each other’s roles in participating in QUESTT </li></ul><ul><li>Share ideas for working together during the QUESTT Program </li></ul><ul><li>Make arrangements to attend QUESTT Mentor Teacher Training </li></ul><ul><li>March 7, 2012 </li></ul><ul><li>9:00 AM - 3:30 PM </li></ul><ul><li>Professional Learning Center South Room 227 </li></ul><ul><li>Schedule Time for Collaboration </li></ul><ul><li>Be sure to use Mentor Teacher Log to record time spent with Candidate </li></ul>
