  2. 2.  Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu was born in 1910in Skopje, then Albania and Macedoniatoday. He died on September 5, 1997 inhis beloved Calcutta, India. When she began the religious path shetook the name of Teresa. She founded theMissionaries of Charity.
  3. 3. She said of herself: "By blood, I amAlbanian. By citizenship, an Indian.As for faith, I am a Catholic nun. Asto my calling, I belong to the world.In regards to my heart, I belongentirely to the Heart of Jesus "
  4. 4.  In 1950 Mother Teresa founded theCongregation of the Missionaries ofCharity, which was approved in 1965 by PabloVI. The members of this congregation, to beadded to the traditional vows of dedicationto the "poorest of the poor", achieved rapiddeployment in India and other nearly onehundred countries in the world, for itspart, the founder mobilized against abortionand euthanasia, in line with the papaldoctrine of Juan Pablo II
  5. 5.  In 1972 Mother Teresa was awarded theKennedy Foundation, and in 1979, theNobel Peace Prize, whose prize moneydonated to the poor. In 1986 he wasvisited by John Paul II in Nirmal Hidray orHouse of the Pure Heart, which shefounded in Calcutta and best known asthe House of the Dying
  6. 6. After overcoming numerous illhealth, died on September 5, 1997of a heart attack victim. Thousandsof people from around the worldgathered in India to dismiss theSaint of the Sewers. She wasbeatified in 2003 by Pope Juan PabloII.
