As a part of the #thirtyfiveproject, one of my goals is to make 35 new to me recipes. In all their awesome, my friends Martha & Sarosh volunteered to help me cross a few off the list. Here's the record of our first cooking adventure - #lobstermacodyssey2014... It was awesome!!

Lobster Macaroni & Cheese - An Odyssey

  2. 2. The Recipe • ½ Cup butter (unsalted) • 2 shallots, minced • 2 cloves garlic, minced • ½ cup flour • 4 cups whole milk • 4 cups shredded cheese (gruyere, cheddar, parmesan) • 2 cups lobster meat • Salt, Pepper to taste • 1 box Macaroni (da…;-)) • Bread Crumbs * Generously serves 10 people
  3. 3. Step # 1 – Extract the Lobster Meat…
  4. 4. Be Brave… and have the right tools!

  6. 6. Then Commit & Dive Right In… *ProTip – use a rolling pin to help you extract meat from the legs
  7. 7. Chop the delicious lobster meat…
  8. 8. And… set, aside.
  9. 9. Step # 2 – The Sauce…
  10. 10. Start with the shallots and butter…
  11. 11. Add flour…and milk (slowly) to make a roux* *fancy culinary lingo for base – can be used for sauce, soup, etc.
  12. 12. Add CHEESE! *KEEP Stirring… or bad things happen. Like. Really Bad. ;-)
  13. 13. Once smooth… slowly add sauce to cooked and drained macaroni. *if you don’t know how to make macaroni (instructions on box), we suggest not attempting this recipe ;-)
  14. 14. Add lobster… and you guessed it, STIR!
  15. 15. Arrange in greased casserole dish… Dust with Bread Crumbs. Bake at 375 for 30 – 35 Minutes…
  16. 16. And… Voila!
  17. 17. Serve with steamed greens… ENJOY!!
