I am an engineer, working in a research and development role. I’m passionate about using engineering and education to help tackle environmental sustainability in developed and developing countries. I live in Adelaide, Australia. </li></ul>

IYPF Annual Report 2011 <ul><li>3 primary areas of activity for the IYPF in 2011: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Governance </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Maintain reinvigorated governance through regular meetings of the Board of Directors and new Director appointments </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>2. Strategy </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Reviewing the IYPF’s strategic directions and past, present and future opportunities, mapping out a new direction for the organisation, and starting to communicate this to IYPF members and stakeholders </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>3. Communications </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Review & relaunching IYPF communications systems (website, email systems and Facebook pages) </li></ul></ul>

IYPF Annual Report 2011 <ul><li>As a result of these 3 areas of activity : </li></ul><ul><ul><li>The IYPF held 9 Board meetings </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>The Board appointment of interim Board Member (Bernise Ang) after Greg Nelson resigned </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>The IYPF managed its spending, made a profit in the current financial year, and was able to reduce its debt position </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>The Board agreed that the future focus of the IYPF should be on young professional awards, supporting member projects and the convening of further Summits </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>The IYPF established 6 IYPF Regional Groups on Facebook (Africa, Asia, Europe & the Middle East, Latin America & the Caribbean, Oceania) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>The IYPF website, email systems and Facebook pages were updated </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>A 10th Birthday (4th October 2011) was held </li></ul></ul>

Financial Report 2010/2011 <ul><li>$1452 of income (memberships, interest, grants) </li></ul><ul><li>$1382 of expenses (company expenses) </li></ul><ul><li>Profit of $70 for 10/11 FY </li></ul><ul><li>Net position of -$4000 at end of year (which is debt owed from IYPS 2008; still owing GBP2600) </li></ul><ul><li>Note: net position 2009/10 -$7487 therefore the IYPF has reduced debt significantly and made profit in 10/11 </li></ul><ul><li>2011/12 forecast is good with increased profit from membership fees and reduced admin fees </li></ul><ul><li>The Board will focus further on reducing existing debt </li></ul><ul><li>Copy of financials will available on request for all IYPF members in January 2012 </li></ul>
  8. 8. IYPF Election <ul><li>IYPF full members elect other members as IYPF Directors to the Board each year at the AGM. At least 3 Directors are elected each year, for two year terms. The Board is made up of 6 Directors. </li></ul><ul><li>The Directors of the IYPF are accountable to its members for ensuring that the organisation pursues its vision, mission and objectives. </li></ul><ul><li>They are also accountable to external stakeholders for the legal running of the organisation as an international not-for-profit registered in Australia </li></ul><ul><li>IYPF has 3 continuing Directors from its last AGM: Sarah Vann-Sander, Cristian Birzer and Nick Byrne. </li></ul>

Election Results <ul><li>Ballot forms received from 22 IYPF full members </li></ul><ul><li>Voting closed at close of business 1st December 2011 </li></ul><ul><li>The Board already consists of at least two members based in Australia, as required by the constitution. </li></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>The 3 new Directors are: Constance Georgina Khaendi Walyaro, Rosen Dimov, and Andrew Benson Greene </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><li>Unsuccessful candidates will have opportunities to get involved in working groups established by the Board in the coming months and the existing regional groups </li></ul>

Future Directions <ul><li>Short Term </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Get new Board set up => office bearers, compliance requirements, signatories for accounts, etc. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Establish working groups for key projects and tasks </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Appoint regional facilitators </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Close old communications channels </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Continue to update the website and communicate with stakeholders </li></ul></ul>
