Dragon Boating Fast Facts• 2,000+ year old sport• Hong Kong is home of Dragon Boating with races since 1976• Growing global sport over past 30 years• Over 20 million participants today in 60+ countries• 30,000+ participants in HKG• One of the fastest growing water sports• Supported by Hong Kong Tourism Board

Buzz Dragon Overview• Established 2001 (12 years)• Named in memory of fellow paddler Scott Buzby• We pride ourselves in our involvement with Hong Kongs local community, intense competition, and rich culture• We work with the local community via our supported charity Kely Support Group• We proactively participate in the local dragon boat culture• Includes many invitational races and local fishermen club events each year• Watch the Buzz Dragon Documentary at
  5. 5. Team OverviewWe have 3 teams & 60+ team members:1. Mens First team2. Womens First team3. Mixed First Team• 20 rowers + 1 drummer in each boat• Each team races average of 3 races per event in local races, we race up to 6 times per event
  6. 6. Giving Back to Community• January 2011 – Buzz’s Chinese New Year party helped raise funds and awareness for the “Room to Read” ( ) program. The event was a great success, loads of fun and kicked off what is most certain to be a yearly event• For the past eight years, we have participated in the annual Matilda Hospital charity Sedan Chair Race. The event has raised over HKD50m since it’s inception• Every year we also participate in the HK Coastal International Cleanup Challenge because we want to keep the beaches we race on clean

Our Supported Charity: KELY Support GroupKELY Support Group ( ) is a non-government funded bilingual charity which providesnon-judgmental, empathetic and confidential support toyouths 14-24 in Hong Kong.KELY provides a wide range of programmes and serviceswhich focus on drug prevention and intervention, as wellas the development of healthy self-esteem amongstyouth.These include the provision of:• Harm reduction education to schools;• Multimedia art projects for students;• Circus arts and peer support training;• Youth forums and discussion groups; and• A youth helpline on drugs and suicide.KELY Support Group empowers young people through non-judgmental peer support to make informed choices in reaching their potential
