• Sweetpotato is an important potential food
crop
• Tuber : Main source of carbohydrate, vitamins
A (orange flesh tuber), B and C, potassium,
phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, antioxidant
(purple flesh tuber)
• Leaf : rich in polyphenols, protein, vitamins
and minerals

• Indonesia is one of the area of center diversity
sweetpotato in the word
(Mok & Schmiediche 1998)
(Kays et al., 2005)
4. INTRODUCTION
• West Java is one of the centers of diversity of sweet
potatoes in Indonesia
• People consume sweet potato as food consumption
directly through honey sweet potato Cilembu
• Cilembu honey sweet potato has diverse variations and
adapt specific regions
• Local honey sweet potato endangered
• Padjadjaran University has conducted exploration and
conserve local germplasm accessions of sweet potato
in West Java
• Used as a material to increase the genetic capacity on a
new type of honey sweet potato
5. OBJECTIVE
• Conserving local sweetpotato germplasm in
West Java
• Conduct plant breeding based local
germplasm accession through polycross in the
plot collection
• Select F1 potential for new type honey sweet
potato
