During the archival search on the activities of Irena Dodalová1 and
Karel Dodal in Czech cinema of the 1930s, the National Film Archive
(NFA) in Prague obtained some snippets filmed in 1942 in the ghetto
at Theresienstadt, now Terezín. Obeying the SS authorities, Irena
Dodalová, the film producer and director of animated films, took part
in the filmmaking, along with many other Jewish prisoners. Thus, when
researching her film work, I also included in my research programme the
genesis of filmmaking in the Theresienstadt ghetto in 1942.
