MultiCyclone Centrifugal Water Filtration Presentation

 1. 2. MultiCyclone

MultiCyclone is a pre-filtration device that is capable of saving water and reducing filter maintenance.

The MultiCyclone works on the basis of centrifugal water filtration. There are no moving parts to wear and tear, and no filter media to clean or replace.

 2. 3. MultiCyclone 50mm quick fit unions Glass filled reinforced thermoplastic Clear poly carbonate sediment bowl Lock ring 25mm sediment purge valve 16 multiple hydro cyclones Hydraulically efficient design UV and corrosion proof
 3. 4. How does it work?

Incoming water enters 16 hydro cyclones tangentially, generating a strong centrifugal effect.

The sediment is spun out to the hydro cyclone’s wall, and then spirals down to the sediment chamber.

The filtered water migrates towards the center of the hydro cyclone where the flow reverses and spirals upwards through the outlet.

Accumulation of sediment can be visibly monitored through the MultiCyclone’s clear sediment chamber.

The MultiCyclone is easily cleaned by opening the valve.

Only 15 litres of water is discharged to cleanse the MultiCyclone.

 4. 5. Save Water

MultiCyclone collects 80% of the dirt that clogs your filter before it gets there.

It drastically reduces backwashing and filter cartridge maintenance – yet it only takes 15 litres of water to flush

 5. 6. Save up to 7,000 litres of pool water

An average sand filter may require approximately 4,000 to 8,000 litres of water a year to maintain it. Sand filters require an occasional backwash and rinse [on average] every month to 2 months, depending on the dirt load of the pool and the size of the filter.

Each backwash and rinse equates to an average of approximately 700 litres.

If you backwash [on average] every month, your pool filter requires approximately 8400 litres of water a year.

Cuts wasteful backwashing As the MultiCyclone intercepts 80% of the dirt load. Only 20% of the dirt load reaches the filter. Backwash frequency is reduced by 1/5th. Instead of once every 1 – 2 months, the filter needs to be backwashed approximately twice a year
 6. 7. DE Powder tests

DE powder was passed through the Multi Cyclone to discover its effective flow rate.

At 50 litres a minute, the MultiCyclone was able to remove approximately 60% of DE powder and at 350 litres a minute, the MultiCyclone was able to remove 80% of DE powder.

 7. 8. Flush Out Particle Analysis

The MultiCyclone was field tested on an outdoor swimming pool and the contents of the its sediment bowl was laboratory tested to discover the particle sizes it was capable of trapping.

The laboratory test below revealed that the MultiCyclone was capable of trapping sediment between 10 to 100 microns

 8. 9. Filtration Efficiency

The filtration efficiency of the MultiCyclone was tested by feeding 5 to 80 micron dust particles through the MultiCyclone and analyzing the percentage of dust particles trapped in the sediment bowl.

The laboratory test revealed that the Multi Cyclone was effective in filtering particles sized 40 to 80 microns.

Micron Rating Particle Size 11.6 NTU Influent Particle Size 10.2 NTU Effluent Average % Of Particles trapped 5.0 – 80.0 24141 16824 30.31% 5.0 – 20.0 23608 16561 29.85% 20.0 – 40.0 509.20 260.13 48.91% 40.0 – 60.0 22.000 2.861 86.97% 60.0 – 80.0 2.333 0.000 100.00%

 11. 12. MultiCyclone - Smart Approved WaterMark

Smart Approved WaterMark is Australia's water saving labelling program for products and services which are helping to reduce outdoor water use.

To obtain the Smart Approved WaterMark label, an independent Expert Panel must assess and approve all products, services and organisations.

 12. 13. 2007 Piscina Barcelona Sustainability Award

The Multi Cyclone, a new Australian-designed and patented swimming pool filtration device, was awarded the 2007 Piscina Barcelona Sustainability Award at the prestigious International Swimming Pool Exhibition, Piscina BCN.

 13. 14. MultiCyclone NSF certification

MultiCyclone is certified by NSF international.

NSF tested the MultiCylcone for its structural integrity, head loss, turbidity removal, and cleanability.

Its turbidity tests proved that the MultiCyclone was capable of filtering down to 30 microns.

NSF made the following comment, “The sample was extremely effective in trapping particles that are larger than 30 microns somewhat effective in the 20-30 micron range”.

 14. 15. Testimonials

“ With reference to the use of the Waterco MultiCyclone unit, I personally have installed the system on many clients’ pools and have been astounded at the results in both water quality and the main issue “water saving”.

The nature of my business is pool maintenance, pool building and contract work to pool builders. I have been involved with the swimming pool industry since 1989.

I installed a MultiCyclone in a customer’s pool. They have had terrible problems with fine sediment on the bottom of the pool.

The owner had told me that in the past 2 weeks she had backwashed the pool 6 times (6000 litres of water) to try and clean it up. After I had installed the MultiCyclone I cleaned the owner’s pool to show her how good the unit was. Not once did we backwash the pool whilst cleaning and the pressure on gauge was still low meaning she may not have to backwash for some time.

The water saving qualities of the MultiCyclone I have found to be of great relevance to the current drought conditions.”

Paul Hosie

City to Surf Pool Service

 15. 16. Testimonials

“ I am writing this in response to the MultiCyclone that we have been selling for the last couple of months. I have also been using one in my pool over that time.

My own experience with the MultiCyclone has been extremely positive. I have found that since I have installed it that I haven't had to backwash and rinse at all. Previously I had been doing this at least once a fortnight.

When selling the MultiCyclone we have received great reviews from customers who have installed it. There has also been a huge amount of interest in it from people who are becoming more and more water conscious.

In review I have found the MultiCyclone to be a huge success, and would be more than happy to recommend it to anyone as a water saving device.”

Liam Branigan

Suburban Pool and Spa Service
