1. 1. Colorado By: Jessica Tuttle
 2. 2. Thursday…plane rides and more…

Thursday was the day that we were loading the airplane and going to Colorado.

I was pretty nervous, being a first time airplane passenger. But soon my nervousness turned into excitement.

Once on the plane, I was so excited I could hardly sit still. I kept myself busy by taking pictures outside the plane window and eating trail mixes that was offered on the plane.

Before I know it, we were in Colorado. It took us about an hour to get out of the airport and into our rental car. Which was a red Dodge Durango.

It took us close to six hours to get from the airport to the place we were staying. We got lost quite a few times and it didn’t help matters any that we were having car troubles. We were staying at a friend of Tay’s family.

Their names were Suzie and Joe.

 3. 3. Friday…shopping and relaxing..

The first picture is a picture of Suzie’s house. When we woke up on Friday, we basically just looked around a bit and drove around for a while.

We went to Wal-Mart and I bought a couple shirts and swim suit bottoms.

We drove up to the Grand Mesa, which is the biggest mesa in the rocky mountains. The last two pictures are pictures taken on the top of the Grand Mesa.

We went back to Suzie’s house and had a home cooked meal of home made enchiladas. They were very good.

Every night, if you sat outside and gazed across the mountains, you would witness some of the most beautiful lightning storms you would ever wish to see.

 4. 4. Saturday…river rafting…

Saturday was by far my favorite day. We all went white water river rafting.

We went with two of Suzie’s friends, who also passed as river guides.

We went down the river, sometimes at slow speeds, sometimes at racing speeds. Lunch time was also a fun time. Our picnic area was simply a little island in the middle of the river. We stopped and ate some sandwiches and it was such a hot day out, we were all walking out in the middle of the river.

When we got about halfway through the river we came across some rapids that weren’t to big, yet not to small. We put on our life vests, walked out to the middle of the river, sat down, and away we went. The rapids took us away down the river. A picture of me and Tay doing this is seen at the top.

 5. 5. Sunday…black canyon…

On Sunday we all woke up early and got ready to experience something that would stick with me forever.

We all headed to the black canyon. The black canyon is this steep steep canyon that is thousands of feet deep.

It made me nervous to even stand by the fence, knowing I was as safe as ever. Sometimes I even crawled to the edge and walked as slow as ever. In the picture of me standing there, you can tell I was a little tense and nervous about standing where I stood for the picture.

After we looked at the black canyon, we drove around and went to look at the famous rocker, Joe Cockers, house. The picture at the top is a picture of a little bambino that was standing in a little section of his property. You can barely see it, but its there.

 6. 6. Monday…more shopping and gifts…

Monday was the day of getting gifts for the family back home. I didn’t have to but I thought it would have been nice of me.

We visited all these cute little antique shops, and even this little fudge shop. Let me tell you, I didn’t leave that one empty handed.

I brought back some honey, special made in Colorado, for my grandma. And I brought back some fudge for my parents and James.

I didn’t know what to get my sister so I didn’t get her anything  .

We went back to Suzie’s house and had some home made pizza. That was very good.

Then it was time to pack up and get ready for home.

Tay and I relaxed in the hot tub, enjoying our last night there, while a beautiful lightning storm played in the background of the mountains.

 7. 7. Tuesday…going home…

Finally it was time to head home. We all sadly said our goodbyes and thank yous with only a few tears shed.

The car ride to the airport only took about four hours this time since we knew where we were going.

I also wasn’t nervous at all for the plane ride home.

We got to the airport pretty early, so we walked around the little shops. I bought my brother this neat paper weight that has a scorpion in it.

Then it was time to board the plane and head home.

We finally got to the cities in Minnesota. The view of the city lights at night is something I don’t ever want to forget.

We returned our rental car, and we were finally on our way home.
