  2. 2. PressRelease Lakeview Medical Center Opens Outpatient Imaging Department Rice Lake, WI Monday, April 21, 2008: The Lakeview Medical Center Outpatient Imaging Department will open Monday, April 28, in the new Lakeview Medical Center Outpatient Services Center, 1700 W. Stout Ave., at the southeast corner of Highways 53 and 48. Patients will enter at the east entrance of the building under the Lakeview Medical Center sign and proceed to the second floor. With the addition of this department, Lakeview Medical Center will provide imaging services in two locations. The main hospital site will continue to offer services to the Emergency Department and for inpatients. This additional location will provide services for outpatients. “Our commitment continues to be with the patients we serve,” said Kristine Curtis, director of Imaging, Lakeview Medical Center. “Patients will enjoy multiple benefits including expanded services, access to specialty procedures and convenience.” Curtis added. “I am also very excited that female patients will have their own Women’s Imaging Department that will provide bone density tests, digital mammography, ultrasounds,

This department will have its own entrance from the waiting area and be decorated to appeal to our female patients, with their needs in mind.” “Patients will also see new state-of-the-art equipment in the outpatient imaging department. We will only move one existing piece of hospital equipment into the new facility,” said Terry Larson, Imaging liaison for Lakeview Medical Center. New equipment will include:  Ultrasound machines with live 4D imaging  MRI machines with breast MRI capabilities  CT scanner with 64-slice capability, which may be used for noninvasive heart testing  Digital mammography–exam time is half the time of conventional mammograms  Nuclear medicine equipment  X-ray machines  Fluoroscopy equipment The Imaging Department will be digital and filmless. This means images can be sent electronically via computer for diagnosis and specialty consultation instantly and can be shared with the patient’s physician quickly and efficiently. “I am very excited about the opportunity integration offers for patients we serve. As this new department opens I am working very hard to see that patients’ needs are top of mind,” said Curtis.

PressRelease Lakeview Medical Center to Open Outpatient Surgery Department OutpatientSurgery Department to OpenApril 28, 2008 Rice Lake, WI Monday, April 21, 2008: Beginning Monday, April 28, Lakeview Medical Center will open its Outpatient Surgery Department at the southeast corner of Highways 53 and 48. Patients will enter the department through the east entrance of the building under the Lakeview Medical Center sign. The department is located on the first floor. Surgical procedures will be conducted at both the main hospital location at 1100 Main St. and the new Outpatient Department site at 1700 W. Stout St. “To serve our hospital inpatients and the Emergency Department, we will continue to provide inpatient procedures and emergency surgeries in the current hospital surgical suites,” said Doris Ruiter, director of Surgery, Lakeview Medical Center. “Outpatient surgeries not requiring an overnight stay will be done at the Outpatient Surgery Department.” The Outpatient Surgery Department will offer convenience and state-of-the-art design and privacy for increased patient satisfaction.
  5. 5. “Our commitment is to provide high quality care to the patients we serve,” said Christine Trainor, manager, Outpatient Surgery, Lakeview Medical Center. “Once the Outpatient Surgery Department is open, patients will see increased morning appointment availability; and convenient and coordinated scheduling, among other things. “This new location allows us to provide the high-quality care we currently do in a state- of-the-art setting. Patients will see many familiar faces in the new location as well. For example, board-certified anesthesiologists will be on staff at both locations to offer the highest quality care for patients.” As physicians, anesthesiologists administer anesthesia to relieve pain and to manage life functions, including breathing, heart rhythm and blood pressure, during and after surgery. They maintain patient comfort during recovery and help provide post-operative care. Board-certified physicians go through additional education and testing to achieve certification in their specialty or subspecialty, granted through their professional society. In addition to board-certified anesthesiologists, the staff includes certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs). “We feel strongly that being the only facility in the area having both anesthesiologists and CRNAs on staff, we are able to provide a higher level of patient care,” Trainor said. Both managers are excited about benefits patients and patients’ families will see with these changes.
  6. 6. “I am personally very excited about the consideration that family and caregiver needs have been given in the design of the new facility. The Outpatient Surgery Department will have consultation rooms available for surgeons to meet with family members in a private setting,” Trainor added. “We are doing everything we can to best address our patients’ needs while continuing to offer high quality care here in our community,” said Ruiter. For more information about Outpatient Surgery, contact Trainor at 715-236-8338.
