What is Broadband over Powerline? A technology that transforms the standard electric power grid into a communications route to carry broadband telecommunications along its entire length and to every utility device on the grid and to every consumer outlet. The broadband signal is  “injected” into the powerlines at strategic points, most often the utility substation  “regenerated” along the grid route to assure good signal quality  “extracted” from the powerlines at any point to provide communication services through specialized, low cost modems
