SPORT TANK
WATER MANAGEMENT STRUCTURES
Applications:
Storage & Reuse
Retention & Filtration
Detention
Sport Tank Water Management Structures are a patented system that provides a more efficient alternative to traditional storm water management for synthetic turf applications.
Unlike a natural field, synthetic fields typically include a significant drainage and storage system constructed with natural aggregate below the turf.
Utilizing Sport Tank within the synthetic turf system, storage of water runoff is maximized by the void space created by the structural modular unit.
22. 22. Easy Transportation: Can be supplied un-assembled to reduce delivery cost
 23. 23. Lightweight and easy to install: Can be put in place by hand
 24. 24. Permanent and Maintainable Storage Volume: All storage volume is isolated inside a geosynthetic envelope and has no reliance upon non-sustainable, temporary, or assumed void space in aggregate backfill

SPORT TANK
WATER MANAGEMENT STRUCTURES
STORAGE & RE-USE
Sport Tank promotes a clean water storage collection structure under your synthetic turf field. Sport Tank maintains 100% of its capacity inside the structure, thereby eliminating the use of aggregate storage. This
completely maintenance-free system, provides maximum storage in limited space, and is the better way to store storm water.
RETENTION & INFILTRATION
Sport Tank promotes a localized storage area so that water can infiltrate into the subsoil at a controlled rate for ground water re-charge. The system is designed to capture surface water through infiltration and then filter the water for recharging into water table.
DETENTION
Sport Tank can be designed to temporary store storm water. In a detention system, the storm water is stored then discharged over time so runoff does not exceed the allowable discharge rate. Engineering a detention system for a synthetic turf field is maximized with Sport Tank while utilizing a minimum of the required space.
27. 27. ESS Sport Flow
SportFlow maintains its hydraulic properties, which far surpass that of natural drainage aggregates, even under construction loading.
SportFlow will provide exceptional quality controlled drainage material within your synthetic turf system. Placed under the aggregate layer, this technology will ensure excellent drainage and reduce the overall depth or your excavation and aggregate layers.
Product Advantages:
High flow capacity
Reduces the depth of excavation and aggregate layers.
Allows for wider selection of aggregate materials.
Consistent, controlled drainage capabilities
No chance for structure to be clogged
Can withstand high loads – up to 45,000 psf
Easy to install - 12.5’ foot rolls
Sport Flow HF
ESS Sport Flow HF & New Meadowlands Stadium
SPORTFLOW INSTALLED AT THE NEW MEADOWLANDS STADIUM, HOME TO THE NFL JETS & GIANTS

The New Meadowlands Stadium is the newest NFL stadium to incorporate a synthetic turf athletic system. ESS Sportflow was selected to ensure the the project requirements are satisfied, excellent drainage, great compressive stiffness to support traffic, and high tensile strength for increased reinforcement. Placed under the aggregate layer, ESS Sportlfow ensured excellent drainage and was able to reduce the overall depth of the excavation and aggregate layers.
This new stadium will be the home field for the New York Giants and the New York Jets, the first facility built specifically to accommodate two National Football League teams. Additionally, the multi-purpose stadium will be used for concerts and other entertainment and sports activities. The stadium is slated to open in the 2010 season.
30. 30. ESS SportGrids/TurfGrids
Product Advantages:
Safe and Non-Toxic
Provides a consistent athletic surface
Easy to install, mix, and/or grade
Resist damage
Promote strong grass growth
Resists the divots, pits, tracks and marks
ESS Sport Grids are engineered to meet the unique requirements of your project.
These synthetic fibers are engineered and manufactured for both synthetic and natural turf to reinforce and stabilize soil.
They are manufactured from polypropylene and are non-toxic to plants, animals, and humans.
These fibers are incorporated into the soil profile at a depth of 4 to 6 inches where they reinforce and enhance the soil properties. They are designed to increase the shear strength of the soil while not effecting permeability.
LSU Tiger Stadium
37. 37. ESS Protector Membranes
Product Advantages:
Reduced Flexural Rigidy
Impermeable
Flexible
Easy and quick installation
Superior resistance to tearing and puncture.
Minimized expansion and contraction
Custom produced to fit any field
ESS Protector Liners are impermeable membranes manufactured to be strong, yet flexible.
ESS Liners have been designed, tested, and utilized specifically for synthetic turf applications. These membranes are designed to be used with synthetic or natural aggregate synthetic turf systems.
They designed and utilized to minimize heat build-up, expansion and contraction of the impermeable membrane – critical to the success of your synthetic turf system.
38. 38. ESS Geogrids
Product Advantages:
Soil stabilization and Base Reinforcement
Increased separation between the subgrade and fill material
Prevent lateral dispersion of base materials
Improves structural performance
ESS offers a wide selection of geosynthetic geogrids that are engineered to improve the performance of weak subgrade in athletic fields.
While reinforcing and increasing the stiffness at the base the synthetic or natural sport field, the geogrid openings interact with base materials, confining them and preventing lateral dispersion and improving structural performance of the subgrade.
39. 39. ESS Geogrids & The Perimeter Drain
Compacting rounded, clean drainage stone in the perimeter drainage ditch is a challenge to most contractors on synthetic fields.
The potential for the stone to displace under load causes the lines to move, especially during the infill process. Placing a layer of geogrid on top of the perimeter trench just below the turf or synthetic aggregate system helps to reduce this potential problem. The open area of the geogrid allows for the stone to interlock and resist lateral displacement through confinement.
The stiff, rigid geogrid, through lateral constraint mechanism, provides a nice, stable platform for the overlying layers without reducing drainage characteristics of the aggregate.
