4. TYPES OF MEDIA
They are audio, visual, and audio visual media. Audio
media are media that can be listened to, while visual
media are media that can be seen. The instructional
media that involve the senses of sight and hearing
are named as audio visual media (Kasbolah,
1993:57).

The audio aids consist of record player,
tape recorder, and language laboratory.
8. VISUAL
• Based on Oxford Learner’s Dictionary (1989:1424), visual media are “pictures,
films, video, maps, etc. used as teaching aids”. They can be also defined as
things that can be seen which are used as teaching and learning visuals.
• The visual media consist of blackboard, textbook, real object, picture file,
chart, pocket chart, flash card, word card, number card, flannel or felt board,
magnetic board, overhead projector and transparency, slides, filmstrip, and
miscellaneous materials
10. AUDIOVISUAL
• It means possessing both sound and visual component,
such as slide-tape presentations.
• e.g. cover film, television, and programmed instruction,
films, videos, tv programs, short educational movie (BBC
channel movie. ex: the hardest place to be bin man).
