The Urban Leadership Foundation of Colorado (ULFC) is a premier leadership development organization that has recognized success in its intensive 10-month program. The 2018 cohort plans to produce two life-changing events for youth: an interactive teen summit on topics like social justice, financial literacy, and wellness, and a stage play inspired by impactful films that shares teens' challenges and how they can be supported. ULFC seeks donations of $25-100 to fund these transformative community service projects.

It is my pleasure to reach out to you on behalf of Colorado’s premier leadership development organization: The
Urban Leadership Foundation of Colorado (ULFC). Since its inception in 2007, ULFC has been recognized as
having one of the most successful leadership programs within the Denver Metropolitan area. This intensive 10-
month program emphasizes community involvement with a lasting impact. The 2018 Cohorts have collectively
set our sights on making a positive difference in the lives of youth. How? We plan to produce two life-changing
events that will prepare the next generation of leaders for an even brighter future! In the words of our 44th
President: “Young people have helped lead all our great movements… We’ve been waiting for you. And we’ve
got your backs.” – Barack Obama. If you share this sentiment, we could use your help!
Our first community initiative is an interactive teen educational summit entitled the 5280 Teen Summit. The
goal is to provide students with an opportunity for their voices to be heard while also educating them on topics
usually not covered in traditional schools. The 5280 Teen Summit Graduates will walk away with practical ways
to achieve social justice, improved financial literacy, and valuable tools to maintain overall health & wellness;
just to name a few takeaways. We’re also working on solidifying a celebrity guest and with your help, we can
make this a reality!
Our second community initiative has drawn inspiration from some of the most profound, thought-provoking
films to hit theaters such as The Help, Hidden Figures, and Black Panther. These films were widely accepted as a
conduit for productive conversations about stereotypes, pride, inequality, etc. In the same light, A Night at the
Theater - The Story of An American Teen was born! ULFC is pulling together a focus group of teens from many
walks of life, to speak truthfully about the challenges they face day-to-day and how they can be supported. The
information gathered from these conversations will be transformed into a stage play where audience members
can take a realistic view into the life of a modern-day teen while being educated on ways to help uplift these
future leaders. We’re excited because our teen actors get to share the stage with Tony Award nominee, Sheryl
Lee Ralph!
How can you make a difference? You can make a make a small contribution of $25-$100. Each dollar will go
towards these two transformative community service projects and your contribution is tax deductible. We all
have a responsibility to give back to the community, and in the words of Ayesha Siddiqi – my challenge to you is
to “be the person you needed when you were younger.”
Thank you for your consideration!
