  2. 2. What is Graduation?  Graduation is a day to celebrate a teenagers passage from high school into the real world.  This rite of passage is completed by a ceremony called commencement.  Graduates recieve a diploma after walking across the stage to symbolize they are "walking into the real world".  Graduates wear a grown and cap a their commencement as apart of the ceremony.
  3. 3. Commencement
  4. 4. Commencement Ceremony Commence ceremony is when the graduates wear their cap and grown , recieve their diploma and solitify their completion of 13 years of schooling.
  5. 5. Diploma A diploma is the certificate a graduate recieves after she/he has walked across the stage.
  6. 6. Cap and Grown  Graduates wear a cap and grown at their commencement as it is common practice.  Usually at the end of the commencement ceremony , graduates all at once throw their caps into the air symbolizing their now free and in the real world.
  7. 7. This is what a cap and grown generally look like.
  8. 8. Rite of Passage: Rite of passage is when someone has a significant change in their life or reaches a significant milestone.Graduation isn't a right of passage to me because I will be taking futher studies in university so I haven't changed from highschool just made a schooling adjustment.
  9. 9. In My Opinion: Commencement Postive:  Rite of passage in to the real world.  Recieve a diploma.  Get to throw cap at the end of the ceremony.  No more high school after that day.  Focus on university/career Negative:  Sit in a chair for three hours straight.  One of the first graduates to recieve her diploma.  Growing up.  Expected more involvement in the community.  More responsibility.
