  2. 2. Problem state:  As a problem reported by our students who are originating from Africa. Our school is an İnternational school. They clearly stated that their we can find a solution for flies and insect which cause diseases and many families find a hard time to get a remedy for this situation.
  3. 3. THE NEWS:  TRT NEWS – 15 February 2012  The tsetse fly kills by spreading a sleeping sickness. Africa as whole is in trouble due to this. This flyi mainly leaves on other animals as a parasite and feeds on blood. This way it carries the sickness.  (Tsetse fly does not live and exist in our present country. CHEMİCAL İNSECT REPELLENT DAMAGES:  In accordance to a point reached by the French scıentıst the chemıcal called “DEET’ which is contained in mosquito drugs, has a neurotoxic effect on the human nervous system. This substance breaks down the acetylcholinesterase enzyme, which has a very large prescription for the central nervous system.  It involves high risk for pregnant women. In order to neutralize the flies, a substance called DEET is used in ınsect repellent . This item can be effective not only on mosquitoes but also on human lıfe. According to the investigations made, approximately 16.7% of this material is absorbed into the blood and passes from there to the placenta. In pregnant women, this substance can infect babies.
  5. 5. Purpose:  We have seen that the fly drugs used today are harmful and expensive. In the literature, we noticed that in the rural area, especially on the basil leaves, When we ask our dearest, he directed us to these vegetable oils.
  6. 6. Process:  To get the orange oil ourselves, we chopped the oranges we took from our meals and put them in the alcohol solution. We extracted orange oil by extraction method. We got help from our biology colleagues to train ourselves. We put orange, lemon, apple pieces in front of the laboratory glass (we chose red apples) We waited for the flies to come and lay. When we did this process in February, our flies could not reproduce. We tried to solve them on the flies we caught on it.

  10. 10.  From these solutions we poured 10 drops of drip onto the filter paper and put it in the empty beaker where the flies were found. And we recorded the time.  20 seconds in the orange oil,  25 seconds in geranium oil  30 seconds in basil oil  We realized that it was killing the flies.
  11. 11. We tried mixing the orange and basil oil together. We realized that it was killing the flies in about 15 seconds.
  12. 12.  After we saw that we were successful, we had 2 bottles of water bottles of 5 liters in the hobby garden of our school. We put meat and orange pieces in these bottles. We opened the door. After 10 days, our flies multiplied. We tried these herbal solutions on them again. We calculated the volume of the empty aquarium. The volume of the aquarium was 0.6365m3, the volume of the beergar was 0.000105m3. We used two drops of solution for beergar. For the aquarium, it would be sufficient to use a solution containing 121 drops of orange and basil oil.
  13. 13. CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS:  The most effective solution we did was an orange-basil mixture. It can also be used in areas where our body is open as a lotion. Oranges are products produced in abundant quantities in our basil country. We can get 2 liras from the orange market, 5 liras from the bloom. It will be more economical than oil to buy orange oil for ourselves for 15 liras.  The products we use do not harm the environment and people. It does not smell as bad as most flies in the market. It has a nice and refreshing smell.  We see that there are many damages when we read the information on the chemical fly drugs. But our product is completely and totally organic, there is no harm.
  14. 14. Extensibility: When our African friends return home for summer vacation, they will be able to take these medicines with them and try them there. And they will share the results with us when they return.
