KEY PROJECTS Pacemaker Electrode Insertion Device Created a new surgical device for preclinical testing to improve insertion of pacemaker electrode into heart resulting in a patent. Designed mechanisms/shape from researched surgeon needs/ergonomics client input, prototyping and testing. Managed budget, manufacturing, and assembly. Handheld Monitor Responsible for the industrial design of a handheld device for the personalized monitoring of a genetic metabolic disorder for a Fortune 500 client. Incorporated human factors and ergonomics with marketing requirements and user feedback. Macular Degeneration Treatment Device Improved an epiretinal beta radiation surgical device for the treatment of wet age-related macular degeneration. Refined for mass commercial manufacturability and managed testing for FDA Verification and Validation (V&V). Targeted Tumor Treatment Catheters Created a family of revolutionary micro-catheters for the targeted delivery of embolization particles and treatment of tumors. Oversaw extrusion fluid and design analysis, prototyping, V&V testing, regulatory documentation, and clinical production. Impacted Ear Wax Removal Device Created a novel series of prototypes for the cleaning and removal of impacted earwax primarily in infants and the elderly. Successful prototype trials resulted in the funding of over $150,000 for clinical trials. Chronic Back Pain Treatment Device Oversaw 2 and 3 year real-time aged V&V testing for a RF ablation device that treats chronic lower-back pain. Responsible for report documentation subsequent documentation and packaging updates for commercial release. Microbe and Protein Bioreactor Designed a custom bioreactor for the research of microbial metabolism, protein expression, and protein folding, including an adjustable impeller, mechanical seal, and customized injection and instrument monitoring ports. Intestine Obstruction Treatment Device Created a multi-part injection molded magnetic device for the treatment of intestinal bowl obstructions. Responsible for documentation and packaging design for sterilization and in-human clinical testing. Oral Oxygen Saturation Probe Refined design and manufacturing process for mass-production and affordability of a disposable oxygen saturation probe for monitoring gastrointestinal nutrient delivery. Peripheral Intravenous Access Device Assisted with the re-design and V&V testing of a disposable peripheral intravenous access device, based on animal and user studies, for clinical trials and high-volume production. New design resulted in an innovation disclosure. Mammary Duct Dilation Device Improved upon an existing mammary duct dilation device, for the early detection and treatment of breast cancer, to decrease patient discomfort. Research and development resulted in the filing of a legal innovation disclosure.
