Hybrid teaching: Hidden skills and knowledge gaps

  • 3. What do I mean by: skills, knowledge and gap?
  • 4. knowledge = mental model of how things work
  • 5. skills = fluency of performance
  • 6. gap = difference between necessary and current state of knowledge and skills
  • 8. “we first have to look at how people understand the design in the first place. To do that, we need to look at the design’s knowledge space.” -- Jared Spool
  • 10. “The biggest challenge in making a design seem intuitive to users is learning where the current and target knowledge points are.” -- Jared Spool
  • 11. Teams intuitive or not? How do you turn off together mode?
  • 12. People don’t develop knowledge and skills in teh same way.
