  • The good news: Nearly 80 percent of marketing executives and 68 percent of IT executives said that digital marketing is important to their organizations.And yet, according to the survey results, the manifestation of the marketing and IT disconnect seems otherworldly: Just 4 percent of marketing executives and 7 percent of IT leaders reported that their companies are very prepared to exploit digital marketing channels. A paltry 8 percent of marketers and 6 percent of IT executives said they believe their data and analytics are completely integrated.Being associated with in-fashion IT correlated with an increase in the company’s reputation.The more often a company’s name appeared in articles that also mentioned an IT innovation that was considered in-fashion at the time of mention, the higher the reputation score that company had in the subsequent year’s list of America’s Most Admired Companies. More specifically, for each 1% increase in the company-technology associations, a reputation score increase of 0.52% was reported.If that’s not interesting enough, the reputation bumps occurred whether or not the company actually followed through with an investment in the technology discussed.
