Multiple Charge Parish <ul><li>UMC Book of Discipline – ¶206.3 </li></ul><ul><li>An intentionally organized group of two or more pastoral charges in which each church continues to relate to its charge conference on the organizational level and also participates in a parish-wide council </li></ul><ul><li>The pastors are appointed or assigned to the charges and also to the parish, and a director or coordinator is appointed or assigned by the bishop </li></ul>

Larger Parish <ul><li>UMC Book of Discipline – ¶206.3 </li></ul><ul><li>A number of congregations working together using a parish-wide parish council and other committees and work groups as the parish may determine; providing representation on boards and committees from all churches; guided by a constitution or covenant; and served by a staff appointed or assigned to the parish and involving a director </li></ul>

Financial Practices <ul><li>Beginning in January 2012… </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Each charge to set and manage financial resources except pastoral salaries </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Each charge to fund and administer local ministries, work groups, and ministry teams </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>Can be funded in a number of ways </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Each charge responsible for its own Mission Shares </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Beyond 2012 a Parish Finance Committee may be developed </li></ul>
  16. 16. Trustees and Property Practices <ul><li>No immediate changes </li></ul><ul><li>Parish Council will seek out and recommend future methods of collaboration </li></ul>
  17. 17. Lay Leadership <ul><li>Pastors and Parish Council will seek out ways to invite, recruit, train, and commission lay leadership </li></ul><ul><li>Until these methods are found, local Lay Leadership Committees and pastors will continue to function </li></ul>
  18. 18. Questions <ul><li>This covenant will be presented to each All Church (Charge) Conference on December 11, 2011 at which time each Conference will vote on whether or not to approve this covenant </li></ul><ul><li>At this time, pastors and members of the committee who developed this covenant may answer questions for clarification </li></ul>
