Baptism of the Holy Spirit, Part Two

  1. 1. Acts 2:1-4 1 When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. 2 And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
  2. 2. 3 And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance.
  3. 3. For over 55 years, the love of the Father, the name of Jesus, the absolute authority of God’s word and the power of the Holy Spirit have been the bedrock of the Teen Challenge ministry. •  The US Government HEW government study … RESULTS … 86% success rate. Most date Paul’s third missionary journey as 58 AD It happened that while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul passed through the upper country and came to Ephesus, and found some disciples. He said to them, "Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?“ Acts 19:1 -2
  4. 4. Many feel the primary function of the Holy Spirit baptism is to give you power to minister. The primary function of the Holy Spirit baptism is to give you power to LIVE. He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority; 8 but you will receive power when the Holy Spirt has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth." Acts 1:7-8
  5. 5. We are submerged in the Holy Spirit- that we might be immersed in Jesus. He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, "Which," He said, "you heard of from Me; 5 for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now." Acts 1:4-5 20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourself in the Love of God. Jude 1:20-21
  6. 6. John 14:16-17 16 I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you. John 16:6-8 (6) But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your heart. (7) But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him to you.
  7. 7. HOW DO I RECEIVE? God does not always jump when we CALL, He always responds when we repent ! Repentance is more than I am sorry. More than I feel bad. It is, “I am Ready!” Ready to hear. Ready to change. Ready to obey. Acts 2:38 Peter said to them , "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
  8. 8. 9 The poles were so long that the ends of the poles of the ark could be seen in front of the inner sanctuary, but they could not be seen outside; and they are there to this day. 10 There was nothing in the ark except the two tablets which Moses put there at Horeb, where the LORD made a covenant with the sons of Israel, when they came out of Egypt. … 2 Chronicles 5:9-10 13 in unison when the trumpeters and the singers were to make themselves heard with one voice to praise and to glorify the LORD, and when they lifted up their voice accompanied by trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and when they praised the LORD saying, "He indeed is good for His lovingkindness is everlasting," then the house, the house of the LORD, was filled with a cloud, 14 so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the LORD filled the house of God. 2 Chronicles 5:13-14
  9. 9. WHAT NEXT? Acts 2:38 Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgivenes of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
  10. 10. IT’S ALL ABOUT JESUS! What could be more beautiful than a language created by God to say “I LOVE YOU LORD,” that only the two of you understand? Don’t come to God just for a miracle, come for a relationship. I don't know how much of God you have, but you have as much as you want! Is it possible God loved you so much that He sent His Son to die for you but, after He made a promise, not enough to FILL YOU?
  11. 11. Luke 11:9-13 "So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.(10) "For everyone who asks, receives; and he who seeks, finds; and to him who knocks, it will be opened. (11) "Now suppose one of you fathers is asked by his son for a fish; he will not give him a snake instead of a fish, will he? (12) "Or if he is asked for an egg, he will not give him a scorpion, will he? (13) "If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ASK Him?"
