Palm sunday

  1. 1. A Fresh LookA Fresh Look at Palm Sundayat Palm Sunday Matthew 21:1-11
  2. 2. 1. Jesus submitted to God’s plan with a public demonstration of His IDENTITYIDENTITY.
  3. 3. Previously, He said, “My TIMETIME is not yet come.” (John 2:4)
  4. 4. Jesus once ESCAPEDESCAPED from the crowd. (John 6:15)
  5. 5. Jesus often said, “Don’t TELLTELL anyone.” (Matt 9:30; 17:9)
  6. 6. Now He publicly identifies Himself as MESSIAHMESSIAH.
  7. 7. 2. Jesus ORGANIZEDORGANIZED this demonstration; it was not spontaneous!
  8. 8. It was GOD’S time. “The hour has come.” (John 17:1)
  9. 9. So Jesus, the Lamb of God, would DIEDIE at the same time as the Passover lambs.
  10. 10. It was His initiative; He KNEWKNEW what they would DODO to Him!
  11. 11. It fulfilled prophecy (Zech. 9:9) and was in God’s PLANPLAN.
  12. 12. Jesus came to Jerusalem VOLUNTARILYVOLUNTARILY.
  13. 13. They could not arrest Him unless He ALLOWEDALLOWED it.
  14. 14. He was a WILLINGWILLING sacrifice for all who would BELIEVEBELIEVE.
  15. 15. This “PARADEPARADE” is a demonstration of God’s love for you.
  16. 16. This confrontation resulted in His arrest.
  17. 17. His arrest led to His DEATHDEATH.
  18. 18. He died because He LOVEDLOVED you so much!
