Granny mason's apple pie

GRANNY MASON'S APPLE PIE CRUST PIE FILLING 2 cups flour 7 granny smith apples ¾ tsp salt ½ cup sugar 2/3 shortening ½ cup brown sugar ½ cup vinegar 1 tsp cinnamon 4 tbsp water 1 tsp nutmeg ; sift the flour and salt into large bowl cut the shortening into the flour mixture until pieces are the size of small peas combine the vinegar and water in a separate small bowl sprinkle the liquid mixture into the flour 1 table at a time,until all the flour is moistened and the dough almost cleans the side of bowl gather the dough into a ball,cover with plastic wrap chill for 30 minutes before using peel and cut cord out of apples cut into small pieces with rolling pin roll the dough on to floured surface place in ungreased pie pan,mix apples,cinnamon,sugar,nutmeg put in pie plate,roll remaining dough on floured surface place on top put 4 or 5 slits on top in preheated oven at 350 bake for 45 minutes or until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbling let stand before cutting TIP;for added flavor add finely chopped walnuts into the dough before rolling and chilling .
