A child called it

 1. 1. A Child Called It A story about a courageous child and his struggle with being abused by his mom.
 2. 2.

“ A Child Called It” is about a young boy who is not only excessively bullied in school but abused and treated wrongly. It shows the struggles that the young boy experienced during his childhood. David is abused and mistreated so badly that it is disturbing to the reader. The story takes you on a journey into his life as an abused child.

 3. 3.

Dave Pelzer was abused by his mother. He talks about his hatred toward his mom because of some of the things she did to him. His painful memories of abuse includes his mother burning him on a stove, making him eat scraps from the trash, and forcing him to inhale and swallow cleaning chemicals. Dave goes through suffering and pain and sometimes would even doubt that he would survive.

 4. 4.

His detailed writing allows the readers to take a closer look inside of his home which he refers to as “The House”. Use of alcohol by his mother led to more severe violence and punishment. Dave had one of the worse cases of child abuse in California’s history. When he was rescued he was only 68 pounds, had been stabbed, force to eat his own vomit and drink ammonia and Clorox.

 5. 5.

Even though he suffered harsh abuse, Dave always went to school. His abuse for a long time was not noticed by anyone at the school. Finally it was discovered and later reported to the police. That was the first step to gaining his freedom from his mother

 6. 6.

A social worker came to rescue him from the torture his mother was putting him through. Dave Pelzer was placed in foster care and that was the beginning of his new life. He found a home where he was loved.

 7. 7.

I highly recommend this book because its inspirational to all the people that are against and may have been abused. It proves that courage and willingness can take you through the worst of times in life. This story is one of the best sellers in the New York Times.

DAVE PELZER
