  2. 2. The Connecticut Plan  This was the plan that setup the new Constitution  The Constitution had to be approved by at least 9 state conventions (9 states)
  3. 3. Disagreement about the new Constitution  Two different groups emerged:  The Federalists  The Anti-Federalists
  4. 4. Federalists  These people were the supporters of the Constitution  They wanted a strong federal, or national government
  5. 5. Anti-Federalists  These people were against the new Constitution  They feared that a strong central, or national government, would endanger the people’s liberties
  6. 6. The Federalist Papers  James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and John Jay wrote a series of articles known as the Federalist Papers  They attempted to convince people why the Constitution needed to be ratified
  7. 7. Federalist & Anti-Federalist Activity  In pairs read the quotes from the Federalists and Anti-Federalists  Try putting the quotes in your own words  Answer the questions related to each quote
