Recruitment Notice: Los Angeles Q1 / 2013 URS has an outstanding career opportunity for a Transit Engineering Design Manager to act as the strategic and technical lead for the transit and rail engineering group. Transit Engineering Design Manager Roles and Responsibilities: Lead analysis and design of complex rail and bus projects: Candidates will lead and mentor a group of junior, intermediate, and senior engineers in the design of complex rail and bus projects, interfacing with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists in support of overall project delivery. Lead and conduct detailed analysis of transit feasibility studies, as well as project speciﬁc tasks including the assessment and design of transit and rail facilities, light and heavy track routes, stations, and systems. Program Management and project delivery: Coordinate work efforts with other departments and divisions within URS such as structural, geotechnical and environmental engineering resources. Deﬁne scope, budget and schedule, and coordinate with multidisciplinary team leaders on the preparation of design documents. Business development and strategic planning: Lead business development and marketing efforts in target and pursuit of projects in the transit and rail marketplace, and assist in the identiﬁcation and recruitment of key staff. This is a high-visibility position, interacting with clients and public agencies, units of government and federal agencies, multi-disciplinary and multi-ofﬁce teams within URS, subcontractors, and the general public. Requirements: B.S. Degree from an accredited university in an engineering discipline. California Licensed Professional Engineer. 15+ years of progressive experience in transit related engineering, planning and management. Extensive knowledge of all transit and rail engineering practices and principles and administrated ability to develop a practice and secure work with transit clients. Experienced in project management and project delivery of large-scale infrastructure projects. Candidate must have understanding of typical AE accounting practices and be responsible for the performance on projects under his/her direction.
