Newspaper Article In this project we were required to create a sculpture inspired by an article from that days newspaper. I found inspiration from the section called Today in History – 23 February. 1954 – The first mass inoculation of children against polio with Salk vaccine began in Pittsburgh.
Aluminium Casting My final project for Sculpture was to produce a aluminium sculpture. To achieve the final piece Styrofoam moulds were crafted and then set in sand boxes. Once at the right temperature molten aluminium was poured over the Styrofoam runners and left to cool. Lastly the sculptures needed to be filed backed and polished. And now I have two aluminium mushrooms that I made sitting on my windowsill.
