The Physician Inventor:
                    How to Get Started and
                           Succeed
Sunday, September 26, 2010
STEP ONE
Don’t leave your day job, but
“do spend” at least 20 hours a
                 week researching topics of
                        your passion.
Add all peripheral industries to main passion

Sunday, September 26, 2010
STEP TWO
        Research these topics and
       make connections, friends, and
        colleagues with the people
        that are making changes in
               that industry
                     easiest = linkedin, twitter, etc...

Sunday, September 26, 2010
STEP THREE
               Vision the future of that
              industry as completely as
             possible. Vision the role of
           technology, devices, disruption
                    to the market.
Research these trends in detail and make your
                      own predictions of them.

Sunday, September 26, 2010
STEP FOUR
Learn how to make a simple
                 website for yourself and
                   spend time trying to
                  communicate with the
                 medium even if only to
                         yourself
                  i.e.. www.Weebly.com, www.blogger.com,
                          www.wordpress.com etc...

Sunday, September 26, 2010
STEP FIVE
Think of as many ideas as you
                   can and do this every
               weekend. You should be able
to force a good idea out of
               your passions every weekend.
Your best idea will not likely be your 50th or
                                 even 100th

Sunday, September 26, 2010
STEP SIX
Dig into this idea, first explore
                your own thoughts on the
              idea and make a powerpoint
that you would present to a
                     potential investor.
does the gist of the idea resonate well? does the
execution of the idea flow? What are the
                              biggest obstacles?

Sunday, September 26, 2010
STEP SEVEN
Make a folder for this idea and
          categorize the idea amongst
the others and now fill this
           folder with research that is
            related as it accumulates.
make folder on both evernote as well as on
                           project folder

Sunday, September 26, 2010
STEP EIGHT
        Move to prototyping early
      and often by finding someone
online that is a designer and
have them work with you to
       prototype and animate your
                   ideas.
least expensive and quickest way to prototype
                and communicate your ideas

Sunday, September 26, 2010
STEP NINE
        Look first to find companies,
         partners, people that might
care of your idea so that you
do not have to start from
              scratch hopefully.
Try and get an NDA and communicate with
them as to their interest. remember an idea is
worthless without execution and you will need
                            help.

Sunday, September 26, 2010
STEP TEN
Now execute on the plan as
quickly as possible if you hit
road block, put it in pause
until you find a way around it
Meanwhile work on one of your other ideas
Repeat as needed until you have the right one
that hits all the right timing
