  2. 2. <ul><li>What is Subculture? </li></ul><ul><li>A group of youth with certain characteristics. The youth subculture characteristics can be clothing, hair or foot styles that they all encompass. Lots of times the youth subculture can be around a certain type of music . </li></ul>
  3. 4. <ul><li>-L ive concerts of a loud, aggressive genre of rock music (Minor Threat, Sex Pistols, Green Day) </li></ul><ul><li>-A nti-authoritarianism, a DIY ethic, non-conformity, direct action </li></ul><ul><li>-P redominantly male </li></ul><ul><li>-Colourful hair and clothes </li></ul><ul><li>-Alcohol, drugs </li></ul>

Goth Subculture <ul><li>Black hair, pale face and much make up </li></ul><ul><li>Gather in cemetery </li></ul><ul><li>Horror films </li></ul><ul><li>Believe in ghosts, vampires </li></ul><ul><li>Love literature about old scary castles, vampires, cursed families, being buried alive and melodramatic plots </li></ul>

Commitment </li></ul><ul><li>The members must be committed to a degree that influences the pattern of everyday life for the participant involved, accounting for free time, friendship patterns, shopping routines, going-out habits, collections of commodities, and even internet use. </li></ul><ul><li>2. Identity </li></ul><ul><li>Members must share a sense of affiliation with group insiders, giving feelings of distinction from outsiders. </li></ul><ul><li> 3. Distinctiveness </li></ul><ul><li>A set of shared tastes, ideals and values which is distinctive from those of other groups and reasonably consistent within the group. </li></ul><ul><li>4. Autonomy </li></ul><ul><li>Independent and self-governing. The act of not relying on mainstream culture to produce what is needed for the group to function and prosper. </li></ul>

  11. 12. <ul><li>Today rapid changes in our society influence the process of socialization of teenagers. </li></ul><ul><li>An average family fails to function as a proper agent of socialization, so educative function is practically lost. </li></ul><ul><li>That’s why a lot of teenagers are subject to the influence of youth subcultures with their own interests, views and faith. </li></ul>
