I would like to answer exam question #1, below.With the increase in the number of states that have legalized marijuana for medical andrecreational purposes, the Department of Justice (DOJ) has released forthcoming fundingopportunities regarding the impact of legalizingmarijuana on crime. You want to submit yourproposal to the DOJ, and your proposal must include both quantitative and qualitative elements.In your proposal, you should clearly state:a. A statement of purpose for the study.b. An abbreviated literature review (include at least 7 sources).c. The research hypothesis (or hypotheses).d. The unit of analysis and sampling method.e. The dependent and independent variables and how they will be conceptualized andoperationalized.f. Describe which components of the design are quantitative and which are qualitative.g. Describe the statistical technique(s) that you will utilize in the analysis and explain whythe technique(s)was/were chosen and how the technique(s) is the most appropriateapproach.h. The strengths (two) and weaknesses (two) of the research design you have chosen.Exam question should be treated like a stand-alone research paper with a reference page. There is no page limitbut submitting a short answer is HIGHLY discouraged as you typically need 8-12 double-spaced pages (with Times Roman 12 point font) to properly answer EACH section question.The exam questions are not asking for youropinion but for you to demonstrate command of the academic literature. We encourage you to support youranswers with peer-reviewed journal articles published in the last five years. On occasion, you may need to cite a historic source; however, the bulk of your referenced materials should be from the last five years.
